I understand their (FDOT's) position. It is still important to have someone look at the dump site in question below to determine if it does or does not pose a threat to the marsh. I think the area should be tested..if only as a reasonable precaution. DEP is supposed to come here the week of April 14th to look at the dump area to determine if testing or action is required.

Mr. Bonner:
FDOT has completed a Level 1 contamination screening of the Egans Creek Greenway area. This was done to determine if further investigation was needed in any of the areas where FDOT is proposing to work. The Level 1 screening indicated there were no areas that were likely to be disturbed by FDOT’s proposed construction. Therefore, FDOT is proceeding with our construction schedule and has no further plans for additional contamination screening. FDOT does not further investigate contamination issues unless they are in conflict with or could be aggravated by an FDOT project.
Please do not hesitate to call if you have additional questions or concerns.
